Black Friday signifies the start of the annual holiday shopping season. Most excursions to popular and festive shopping districts can last for hours, if not become all day events! We have some tips to break up the day and offer some great dining suggestions along the way.

Mashpee Commons is the premiere shopping destination on the Cape, with over 120 businesses and retailers, there is something for everyone. Caffeine is a must for days like this and Cape Cod Coffee is your answer! They are very passionate about their product and even give tours of their coffee-roasting facility. If you need a break to relax and unwind, grab a quick mani/pedi at Polished, a facial at Sea Salt Spa, or even a 90-minute deep tissue massage at Massage Envy To fit in some greens and nutrients to balance out your holiday diet of cookies and candy, stop by Absolutely Juiced and grab a smoothie or Acai bowl. When you want to end a day of shopping with entertainment and fun, make your way to Lanes Bowling and Bistro. They offer specials most evenings like Trivia on Tuesday, or Friends & Family night on Wednesday, and live music on Friday and Saturday starting at 9:30pm.

Main Street Hyannis

Another popular holiday shopping area on the Cape is Main Street Hyannis located about a five minute walk from Hyannis Harbor. Around 200 shops and restaurants line the 1.5 mile long "Hub of Cape Cod." Bundle up as you're sure to get chilly hopping from store to store. Better yet, to warm up, grab a hot chocolate and maybe a pastry or two for the stroll at Daily Paper. Have your kiddos in tow? Keep them entertained at Ryan Family Amusements. Katie's Burger Bar is relatively new to the area offering something quick and easy, that everyone loves, burgers and wings. If you are looking for a lighter option, off the beaten path, Common Ground Cafe specializes in scratch made, eco-friendly healthy lunch items. Looking to grab a drink and some apps after shopping? Try Torino or emBargo for their sushi and tapas. Happy Hour specials from 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Need to check a score of the game? Stop into the Seaside Pub on Main.

Start the day by fueling up at Chatham Cookware for coffees, amazing pastries, and breakfast sandwiches. If you have kids in tow there are three must stop shops: Chatham Children's Shop, Chatham Candy Manor, and Ducks in the Window, boasting the world's largest rubber duck collection. Need a break from browsing? Grab a beer and chowder to refuel at The Squire, made famous in the movie "Summer Catch" starring Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jessica Biel. If you have the time to sit down for a matinee, The Chatham Orpheum is the Lower Cape's premiere movie house, offering indie flicks and family films all year round.
